Google like other search engines index web sites on the internet faster by following links from other sites.  To determine the importance of a web site Google considers the relevancy of the web site that is pointing to your web site, resulting in a higher web search ranking.  Also Google tends to compare the relevancy on a page by page basis.  This makes it more difficult to state a wide range topic on one page.
